Bring on Winter 2014! Juliette Hogan is one of my favourite New Zealand designers. I think what I admire the most about her collections is her choice of colours and fabrics. From the beautiful silks to the delicate chiffons, and a touch of lace here in there. I love it all. Recently she has taken a bit of a new direction towards more of a modern, masculine aesthetic which I think works quite well.
The catwalk show opened with a short film directed by husband and wife team Rachel Morton and Todd Bilton. It stars New Zealand model Ngahuia Williams as she walks away from the wrong type of love and drives off in a car to the West Coast to scatter dollar bills on the beach. The audience were led on a heartfelt journey accompanied by a beautiful track by experimental rock band Kerretta.

Around this time last year, I was given the Dr Haushka Skincare line to try (by their in house PR). At the time I was off to Asia for a couple weeks and was really interested to see how well the products will work in the heat. Stress is a bit of a problem for me when it comes to my skin. Whether I'm stressing about a deadline, worrying about something or the physical environment around me changes these all have an impact on my skin.
The program consists of a two step cleanser. 'The Cleansing Cream' is used in the morning, mixed with some water and used together with a hot towel or sponge. There is a special technique used to cleansing. To use, mix the cleansing cream with a few drops of water till it turns milks. The Almond meal in the Cream binds to dirt and gently deep cleans the face.
The 'Cleansing Milk' is best used at night to purify the skin and remove the days dirt and makeup. I found the two cleansers easy to use and I noticed an immediate difference in my skin tone. Pores were more refined, less blackheads and blemishes coming through as well an improvement in overall completion. My skin was coping with the heat really well and I didn't have a single breakout my entire trip!
After skin is cleansed and spray on a spritz or two of the 'Clarifying Toner'. It contains witch hazel and Anthyllis which help to hydrate and support the skins functions over night as it regenerates itself. And finally there is the Melissa Day cream. Made with Lemon Balm or Melissa, not only does little gem smell great but it keeps the skill hydrated, shine free and calm.
I have purchased the products several times recently. It is not cheap but very economical. Because you use two cleansers and one is diluted it does go a fair way. I prefer to use natural based products free of sulphates and parabens on my skin and body. I like to shop with Farmers in New Zealand simple because the Beauty Club rewards are great but if you live internationally Dr Hauschka should shop to your country. If not try Feel Unique.com.
Jaime Lee brought Paris to Perth yesterday when she presented her latest collection "Light Magic" at Perth Fashion Festival. I wasn't able to attend New Zealand Fashion Week this year but if there was one fashion show I could attend this year it would be this one. Jamie drew inspiration from the Neo-Gothic cathedral architecture of Europe. The thing I really like the most about the show was the set is a good reflection of the entire collection without being too much. The use of textures, fabrics, colours and techniques in the collection is just perfection. She is destined for big things. I hope I can get along to one of her shows next year.
If you are thinking the name sounds familiar it probably does. Jamie Lee created Kimbra's Grammy dress.

The Garnier Fructis 'Goodbye Damage' range is perfect for damaged lifeless hair. It contains Amla Fruit Oil and Keraphyll which strengthens hair up to 10 times & prevents split ends. I've been using the range for a few weeks now and I think the conditioner is great. It is nice and thick leaving my ends nice and soft. The Shampoo is good and the serum is nice and light. All the products have a sweet fruity smell to them which I like. Would I purchase it again? Yes.
